Paulien Goditiabois in

The NedWorks Trends & Income report has become a fixture in the marketing sector. It not only gives an indication of the average work experience, salary, education, ... But it also keeps a proverbial finger on the pulse for trends in the sector. This makes the report a real benchmark for the digital sector in Belgium. Just like every year, based on the input of our respondents, we have distilled some trends and summarized them in a clear report. What you read is therefore an interpretation of our annual survey. In the fall of 2020, we surveyed more than 300 profiles.

Continuous learning

2020 was a year where organizations went through an accelerated digital transformation. Therefore, to remain performant, it was essential to have the right skills in place. The survey results show that Learning & Development and company culture are crucial factors for digital professionals to choose an employer. No less than 60% of the digital professionals in the survey cited one of these factors as decisive in their choice of job. When we look at the reasons why employees leave a company, we see that besides financial motives (20%), personal growth and recognition (18%) and company culture (15%) stand out.

Gender

Even in 2020, we notice a gap between the gross salaries of men and women. Where the average gross salary of male respondent is €3,277, the average gross salary of female respondent is €2,822. This is a difference of 14%. When comparing gender over client type, digital specializations and level of position, taking into account the number of respondents per category, we note that in the majority of cases men receive a higher gross salary than women.
